TEXTILE & APPARELS
- The textile is the most important sector of Pakistan’s economy.
- In 2017, it contributed almost 8.5% to the country’s GDP, accounted for one-fourth of industrial value-added and employed 40% of the industrial labor force.
- Amongst textile products, garments have the highest-value addition and is also the main export revenue earner. In 2017, Pakistan exported almost $5.0 billion worth of garments to the world: $2.52 billion (knitwear) and $2.47 billion (woven).
- Pakistan is the third largest cotton producing country in the world and is the 8th largest exporter of textile commodities in Asia.
